Stone Carving
Stone carving is where material, craft and imagination meet.
From discreet details to full sculptural elements, we create carved work that brings depth and character to façades, porticos, pediments and interiors.
Each piece is shaped with care, balancing artistry and structural understanding so it feels at home in its setting and endures for generations.
ART AND CRAFT IN THREE DIMENSIONS
Carving can be classical, contemporary or somewhere in between. We work with traditional motifs, foliate detail, coats of arms, consoles and mouldings, as well as more freeform designs and carved lettering.
High-precision CNC machinery is used for primary shaping, improving efficiency, safety and consistency, before our masons refine every surface and edge by hand.
The result is work that carries the clarity of digital tooling and the warmth of human touch.
Process Details
DESIGN
Our service includes the structural design of the stone assembly, including the connecting brackets where necessary, and also drawing the geometry in 3D.
FABRICATION
Using our state-of-the-art factory and machinery we can make the treads to any shape and detail you require.
INSTALLATION
With a bit of forethought and provision of temporary lifting beams, the installation process becomes a relatively smooth and simple process.

Brief, intent and style
We begin by understanding the role of the carving within the wider project. Is it a focal point, a subtle enrichment or a piece of lettering with a specific tone? Using sketches, references and architectural drawings, we discuss style, scale, positioning and budget, then outline options that respect both the architecture and the narrative you want the stone to carry.
Design development and modelling
Once the direction is agreed, we develop the design in more detail. This may involve hand drawings, clay maquettes or digital models to test proportion, depth and shadow. At the same time, we consider stone type, fixings and buildability, ensuring the carving works structurally as well as visually. Approved designs are then translated into files for CNC roughing and setting-out.
Carving, finishing and installation
Primary shaping is carried out using CNC machinery to establish the main forms accurately and efficiently. From there, our carvers work the stone by hand, refining profiles, textures and fine detail until the piece feels resolved from every angle. Each element is checked for quality before being delivered and, where required, installed by our own teams as part of the wider stonework.
DETAIL THAT ENRICHES THE ARCHITECTURE
Well-judged carving can transform how a building or interior is read.
It can provide focus at an entrance, soften a structural junction or carry names, dates and stories in a way that feels permanent and grounded.
By combining digital precision with hand skills, we offer clients carved work that is both achievable and exacting – pieces that sit comfortably within the architecture today and will still be appreciated many years from now.
