Natural Stone Facades

A stone façade gives a building weight, character and permanence.

From complete ashlar envelopes to carefully judged stone elements within a mixed-material façade, we design and deliver external stonework that is proportioned, buildable and enduring.

Our teams combine architectural understanding, engineering insight and generations of masonry experience to create elevations that are as satisfying up close as they are from afar.

ELEVATIONS IN STONE, DESIGNED TO ENDURE

Façades call for a balance of structure, expression and budget. We work across full stone envelopes, integrated schemes with brick, render or metalwork, and more targeted interventions such as window surrounds, cills and string courses.

Independent of any single quarry or supplier, we can offer impartial advice on stone choice, panel formats and detailing.

From early design input and drawing integration through to production, installation, project management and logistics, we keep the entire process under one roof with masons that have worked on high-end projects for decades.

PROCESS DETAILS

Design

DESIGN

Our service includes the structural design of the stone assembly, including the connecting brackets where necessary, and also drawing the geometry in 3D.

Fabrication

FABRICATION

Using our state-of-the-art factory and machinery we can make the treads to any shape and detail you require.

Installation

INSTALLATION

With a bit of forethought and provision of temporary lifting beams, the installation process becomes a relatively smooth and simple process.

Early Design Integration

Early Design Integration

Success is shaped at the earliest stages. We review design intent and their structural considerations alongside movement joints, restraint systems and interface conditions with adjacent materials. Our design team prepares coordinated drawings and models that ensure the stone works harmoniously with the wider building. At this stage we explore stone types, levels of stone coverage, key features and budget parameters, outlining a stone strategy that supports the architecture and the programme.

System Selection and Technical Detailing

System Selection and Technical Detailing

Stone in this use-case can be used as part of a load-bearing wall or as a non-structural veneer. Each approach requires specific fixings, tolerances and testing. We advise on restraint systems, anchorage design, panel sizing and detailing shaped by the properties of the chosen stone. Our expertise helps clients balance visual ambition with technical practicality.

Precise Production in our Workshops

Precise Production in our Workshops

All of the components are manufactured in our Oxfordshire workshops using advanced CNC technology supported by meticulous hand finishing from our masonry teams. This ensures consistency and high-quality finishes across the large elevations. Components are checked for quality, labelled and sequenced for efficient installation.

Installation and Coordination

Installation and Coordination

Installation is carried out by our own specialist masonry teams, working closely with main contractors and engineers to sequence work safely and efficiently. We manage lifting plans, setting-out, restraint installation and on-site tolerances to ensure the façade progresses smoothly and meets the required technical standards. All of this is considered to bring stone to site and have it in-place in the most efficient process.

FACADES THAT WEATHER WELL

A well-conceived stone façade offers value far beyond first impressions.

Correctly detailed and installed, it can protect the building, age gracefully in its environment and reduce the need for frequent replacement or re-finishing.

By involving us early, you gain a partner who understands how stone, structure and construction methods interact – helping you achieve elevations that are both architecturally clear and technically robust for the long term.
