Our Heritage
This timeline captures some of the milestones that matter, from leasing our original Reading yard in 1866 at £8 per year, to expanding into Oxfordshire workshops, and becoming a trusted adviser to heritage clients, institutions, and designers across the country. Beyond events the story is about people, places, and the enduring presence of stone made to last.
SIX GENERATIONS OF CRAFT
Rooted in a Reading orkshop started by william Jones in 1858, we have remained proudly family-run for over 160 years and are now in our sixth generation.
Over the decades we have grown with care, adding workshops, engineering expertisem and a strong presence in Oxfordshire. What has never changed is our culture of perfection, our commitment to craftmanship, and our focus on detail.
Our close-knit team has grown alongside our reputation. Many of our masns have come through in-house apprenticeships to delivering quality work with integrity.

Our People
Our people carve our reputation in history. We fully & directly employ our site-fixing masonry teams (many competitors simply sub-Contract site fix stage on piece-work rates).
This means that we are able to guarantee the highest quality work, taken from detailing to finished product. Also, as it is controlled in-house, ultimately this generates the most competitive rates as well.
